Westminster alumni wins prestigious BAFTA film award for Amy

University of Wesminster alumni Asif Kapadia’s has won a BAFTA for his documentary on the late singer Amy Winehouse, entitled Amy. The director had previously won the same prize for his Senna documentary in 2012, while also picking up Best British Film in 2003 for Warrior. Kapadia graduated from the University with first class honours in BA (Hons) in Film, TV and Photographic Arts.

Speaking of his time at the University of Westminster, Kapadia said: “I learnt a lot at Westminster and all of that comes through in every film that I’ve made since.” In addition, Asif has also spent time conducting guest lectures and teaching film students.
