The SI-UK University Fair Online hosts a number of seminars designed to help international students learn as much as possible about studying in the UK.

Starting your UK Education in 2021

If you are worried about the UK university application process, what to study and where to do it, the first seminar of the day will go over the basics of studying in the UK ahead of September 2021 entry.

Raveena Balani is a British Council accredited education professional with four years experience in the teaching and higher education sector in Thailand and the UK.
 
Raveena attended the Assumption University of Thailand to study Marketing Communications before going on to Oxford University in 2016 to complete an MSc in Education. She now liaises with universities in the UK and runs marketing campaigns with the institutions to support student recruitment.

Writing a Powerful Personal Statement

When applying to study in the UK, students will need to sell themselves by writing a personal statement which details why a university should offer you a place. One of our most popular seminars will take you through the dos and don’ts of personal statement writing for undergraduate study.

Guy has many years of varied experience as a professional in international education. Beginning as a lecturer and roles in academic administration and management (including as a University Admissions Tutor), he was responsible for establishing and managing the academic infrastructure of the first embedded pathway college in the UK (HIBT, now HIC).
 
After increasing involvement in international recruitment there and then with Kaplan, for who he was Dean of Business, Guy became Director for Africa for PFL where he was responsible for operations and offices spread across 3 countries in what was then the largest agency in Africa. Subequently, in various senior and leadership roles in international education, Guy lived and worked in Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, and most recently in China where he worked with Birmingham City University.

The Future of Accounting in the World of AI

Join Birmingham City University for this special session on the future of accounting in the world of AI.

Samantha holds an honours degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Accounting and Financial Management. She is ACMA, CGMA qualified and after a 15 year career in the banking and finance sector Samantha moved into higher education. She is a Senior Fellow with the Higher Education Academy and has over 12 years of teaching, course management and leadership experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
 
Samantha is dedicated to teaching and learning, and ensuring all students are given the opportunities to achieve their full potential, broaden their experiences and embrace their individual personal development journey. She has been involved in departmental management since 2017 and is leading on the AACSB accreditation for the Business School.
 
Samantha has a keen interest in improving and developing the global network available to students during their studies, and has led many student field trips across Europe and the USA. She has been actively involved in expanding the international opportunities available to students here at Birmingham City University.
