UK University Fair Seminars

The UK University Fair host a number of seminars designed to help international students learn as much as possible about studying in the UK. The below is the schedule from the last Fair in June 2018.

UCAS and applying for undergraduate study

Learn about UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, who provide application services across a range of subject areas and modes of study in the UK. To study in the UK you must apply through UCAS and we will show you how.

Lachyn holds a first class honours degree in International Relations and first began working for SI-UK as a student ambassador in 2011. Now a senior consultant, her work experience also includes the American Council for Education and OSCE. Lachyn is fluent in English and Russian and specialises in providing support for students from Russia and Eastern Europe on visas and UK study.

Applying for postgraduate study

If you are an undergraduate student who is interested in studying at postgraduate level, then do not miss out as we run through application requirements and scholarship and fee information to study a Masters in the UK.

Leonardo Duque is the British Council accredited branch manager of SI-UK London, with over five years experience recruiting students from the Americas and EU.

Originally from Colombia, Leonardo studied International Business and Relations and moved to the UK over ten years ago. He has since completed an MSc in Strategic Marketing at Kingston University and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

How to write a powerful personal statement

When applying to study in the UK, students will need to sell themselves by writing a personal statement which details why a university should offer you a place. One of our most popular seminars will take you through the dos and don’ts of personal statement writing.

Robert Money attended Eton College before going on to Oxford to read Classics, where he graduated with an MA. Having subsequently studied law at Middle Temple he worked for Barclays Bank and a number of education related companies before joining SI-UK.

He now deals with public schools and specialises in preparing high-calibre candidates for entry into Oxford and Cambridge, as well as providing a general service helping international students get into Universities and MBA providers across the UK.

Applying for an MBA

If you are thinking of applying for an MBA, do not miss out as we take you through the application and work experience requirements.

Tugce studied English Language and Literature at Hacettepe University, Turkey and English and Global Management at the University of Vienna, Austria. Tugce moved to the UK in 2016 and has been working in Education since then. Originally from Turkey, she is fluent in Turkish, German and English and counsels students from different countries (Turkey, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, USA and Israel) on studying in the UK.

Hints and tips on the IELTS test

To study at a UK university, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 is generally needed. In this special seminar on the International English Language Testing System, learn more about the IELTS test and how you can improve your score.

Emily holds a first-class Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict studies from the University of Sydney as well as an undergraduate degree in European politics and languages. She began teaching in Rome for the British Council and has experience of teaching in different language schools in both Italy and London. She started working for SI-UK in 2017 and has since become the senior IELTS teacher.

The Tier 4 visa application process: Documents and requirements

Studying in the UK as an international student means securing a Tier 4 visa from the Home Office. This seminar will go through the documents required to successfully apply and how much it will cost.

Jasmin holds a master degree in International Marketing Management from Leeds University and joined SI-UK in 2015. Originally from Taiwan, Jasmin is fluent in Chinese, Taiwanese, and English. Now a managing consultant, she counsels students from multiple countries (including China, Taiwan, Canada, Netherlands, and Albania) and provides support on studying in the UK study and visa applications.
