Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) was formally awarded university status in 1993, but can trace its history back to 1875. Kingston University’s teaching has been recognised as outstanding by winning The Guardian University Award 2017 for teaching excellence. Courses are also brought to life by interactive learning facilities such as the Bloomberg trading room, the flight simulator, an in-built hospital ward and music recording studio.
Lancaster University is located in the north west of England near the major cities of Manchester and Liverpool. It was established in 1964 as a collegiate university with a reputation for innovation. Lancaster is one of the few UK universities to run a collegiate system which consists of eight undergraduate colleges and one postgraduate college. Over 12,000 students from over 100 countries are currently enrolled and all members of staff are college members and many are actively involved in collegiate life.
Lancaster is ranked in the top 10 in all three major national league tables, and is also highly ranked in international league tables such as the QS World Rankings. Established in 1904, the University of Leeds has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research and is part of the prestigious Russell Group of research intensive universities.
Leeds is one of the largest universities in country, with 33,000 students currently enrolled from over 140 countries, while its single campus location is spread out over 98 acres just one mile from the busy city centre. The University was founded by two social reformers who championed the principles of excellence and inclusivity. Their vision lives on today. The University of Salford has a long history of working with industry, improving on its traditional strengths of nursing, engineering and sports medicine. It was founded in its original form in 1850 before being awarded full university status in 1967, and there are currently over 20,000 students enrolled across 60 acres of parkland on the banks of the River Irwell.
Following the results of the National Student Survey, 83% of Salford graduates were satisfied with their time at the University. Improvements were also made in all subject areas, with 100% satisfaction in Media Technology, Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering, Professional Studies Nursing and Social Work and Architecture Design and Technology.
Salford was one of the first universities to offer a ‘sandwich’ degree, a year-long work placement, while its most recent development is MediaCityUK, which allows students to work and study with numerous companies in order to gain vital experience and contacts.
The University of Surrey is a campus university located in the town of Guildford in the southeast of England. The University has great connections to London, just 35 minutes away by train. Named ‘University of the Year' for 2016 in the Times & Sunday Times University Guide, there are around 16,000 students from over 140 different countries.
There are three faculties within the University: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences all offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
The Manor Park site, is located just 20 minutes’ walk away and is home to more student accommodation, the School of Veterinary Medicine and the £36m Surrey Sports Park.

The University of Sussex was founded in 1961 and is located in Brighton on the south coast of England. There are currently around 18,000 students enrolled from over 120 countries and the University consistently performs well in the International Student Barometer, offering funded work placements as part of its student support and degree programmes. It is the only UK university located in a National Park.
The University of Sussex is ranked the 160th best university in the world by Times Higher Education, and has a number of subjects ranked in the global top 100, including business and economics, social sciences, psychology and law.
In the National Student Survey, 82% of Sussex students confirmed they are happy with their experience, whilst Brighton was ranked the happiest city in England for students, with 93% of University of Sussex and University of Brighton students surveyed saying they’re ‘very happy’ with their education and city life.
The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) offers an array of specialist courses in friendly and supportive campus environments and continues to provide an inspiring education to all students. The University is based at five campuses across the South East of England, in Canterbury, Epsom, Maidstone and Rochester.
UCA was named the highest placed specialist creative university in all three major UK league tables and the Business School for the Creative Arts is ranked no.7 in the whole of the UK for Business, Management & Marketing (Guardian Guide 2021). The University has also been awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Methods of teaching and learning in the UK may differ from those in your own country and the University for the Creative Arts encourage students to think creatively and to produce personalised, original and individual solutions to assignments.
The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is based in Preston, in the north west of the UK. In addition to main city centre campus, it has facilities in Burnley, Westlakes in Cumbria and Llangollen Outdoor Centre in North Wales. 24,000 students from 100 different countries are enrolled, making it one of the largest student bodies in the country.
UCLan became the first modern university to be named in the QS World Rankings, and has over 400 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate courses available. The University has been a leader in emerging disciplines such as Fashion and Forensic Science, as well as newer additions such as Dentistry and Aerospace Engineering.
The University has a reputation for scientific research and utilises two observatories in the UK and one in Africa in order to conduct astrophysics research with NASA, as well as being a partner in a nanotechnology research team in China. UCLan maintains a strong focus on employability, ranking in the top three in the UK for the number of graduate start-up businesses, with many degree programmes developed in collaboration with and linked to industrial partners.
UWE Bristol is a thriving, modern university, offering a wide range of highly respected courses and employment-enhancing opportunities. Based in one of the UK’s most vibrant cities, UWE Bristol is a well-established university, with over 29,000 students, 250,000 alumni and 3,000 staff. International students make up 12% of the student population from 140 different countries around the world, making this a diverse and interesting place to come and study. 95% of UWE Bristol graduates in employment or further study six months after graduation.Teaching an Employability
With more than 600 courses available at undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and short course level, UWE Bristol offers a broad range of subjects across the arts, creative industries, health, science, business, law, environment and technology disciplines. The University of Westminster was formed from the Royal Polytechnic established in 1838. It is spread over four campuses, three of which are in central London. There are over 19,000 students from more than 160 countries on a variety of programmes, ranging from undergraduate and postgraduate courses, to tailored professional programmes and short courses.
Subjects maintain a strong vocational focus, with longer modules including work-based skills and integration with practical activity. Undergraduates are able to conduct research during their degree and the University has achieved fame for its media studies and fashion degrees, both of which are rated as being some of the best in the world.
