The University of Aberdeen was founded in 1495, making it the third oldest university in Scotland and fifth oldest in the UK. The University of Bedfordshire is based in both Luton and Bedford, two large towns north of London. The University of Bedfordshire has two main campuses in the centre of Luton and on the outskirts of Bedford, both with on-campus accommodation. The University also has two campuses for nursing and midwifery degrees at Butterfield Park on the outskirts of Luton, and at the Buckinghamshire campus at Oxford House in Aylesbury. A fifth site, Putteridge Bury, contains the postgraduate Business School.

Brunel University London is located in Uxbridge, north-west London, and is one of the UK’s most ambitious, forward-looking universities, with a strong focus on employability after graduation. Durham University is a collegiate public research university in Durham, England, founded in 1837. The University places a strong focus on employability after graduation and all courses include at least two weeks of work-related learning per year. Work placements are encouraged and very popular, with nearly half of all students taking a sandwich course. The University of Leicester was voted 'University of the Year' by the Times in 2008, and finished runner up in the same category in 2014.
Leicester is well known for the strength of it its research, with its Archaeology department recently discovered the remains of Richard III, pushing it into the international spotlight. London South Bank University was founded in 1892 and officially gained full university status in 1992. Nottingham Trent University is spread across three campuses, two in Nottingham and one just outside the city, and it is one of the largest universities in the UK with 28,000 students currently enrolled. The University of St Andrews is the third-oldest university in the English speaking world and the oldest in Scotland, founded in 1413. Despite being a small town, St Andrews has long been a centre of Scottish political and religious life, which is reflected in the University’s strong reputation in the humanities, particularly divinity and philosophy. 9,100 students from over 130 different countries make up a significant part of the town’s population, and St Andrews covers the whole area rather than a defined campus.
Scottish degrees last four years, and at St Andrews this is used to provide greater flexibility. Students apply to one of four Faculties (Arts, Divinity, Medicine or Science) and take modules towards a degree, with a chance to specialise further in the final two years. The University of Stirling is located in central Scotland, with over 120 different nationalities represented amongst its 14,000 students. Stirling was founded in 1967 and its campus is set in an 18th century castle estate on the shores of a loch, surrounded by beautiful hills.
The University of Stirling continues to have several unique factors outside of its location. It is a pioneer of a two-semester structure and modular degrees, allowing great flexibility in start times and changes in study. The University of Sussex was founded in 1961 and is located in Brighton on the south coast of England. Swansea University is based in South Wales and currently has around 20,000 students enrolled across two campuses. The Singleton Park campus was established in 1920 and is home to the Swansea University Medical School, College of Human and Health Sciences, College of Arts and Humanities, and the Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law. The Bay Campus opened in 2015 and is home to the College of Engineering, School of Management, and Computer Science.
