The following is a list of the universities who attended the last SI-UK University Fairs in Nigeria.
The University of Birmingham is an original British ‘redbrick’ university located in the city of Birmingham, just over 150km north of London. It was founded in 1900 as a successor to Mason Science College, with origins dating back to the 1825 Birmingham Medical School and is a member of the Russell Group of research universities and a founding member of Universitas 21.
The Times University Guide awarded the University of Birmingham the 'University of the Year' award in 2014 and the 'University of the Year' for Graduate Employability' in 2015. The University has also invested £5m in its graduate careers services and successful alumni are offered mentoring and bursaries to support work experience and internships in the UK and overseas. Three-quarters of undergraduates undertake work experience as part of their course.
The University currently has over 30,000 students enrolled, 5,000 of whom are international, from nearly 150 countries. Birmingham's central location in the UK means it is easy to navigate, and Birmingham International Airport services many locations around the world.
Cardiff Metropolitan University is spread across three campuses in Wales capital city, with around 12,000 students from 140 different countries currently enrolled. It was originally founded as the Cardiff School of Art & Design in 1865, and became an independent university from the University of Wales in 2011.
The University is well known for art & design, which performed very well in the most recent Research Excellence Framework. A National Indoor Athletics Centre compliments Sports at Cardiff, with 15 alumni competing in the 2012 London Olympics. The University also benefits from close links with industry and international universities such as the Samsung Art & Design Institute and the International College of Business and Technology in Sri Lanka and the London School of Commerce.
Cardiff Metropolitan constantly performs well in the UK Student Satisfaction survey, and in the past has been rated top in the UK for student experience, student support and living experience.
Coventry University is a forward looking, modern university with a proud tradition as a provider of high quality education. Coventry is ranked number 13 in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2019 and is the UK’s Top New University in the Complete University Guide 2018.

The University of Dundee was founded in 1881 and has developed a significant reputation for students entering the traditional professions, most notably law, medicine and dentistry as well as emerging areas such as life sciences. The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design one of the UK’s top rated art schools, while the University of Dundee School of Medicine is ranked in the top five in the UK.
Based in and around the city of Dundee on the central east coast of Scotland, a focus on vocational and professional degrees means that Dundee scores well in terms of graduate employment and only Oxbridge graduates have higher average starting salaries.
Dundee has scored highly in terms of student satisfaction in recent years and lots of degrees at the University include a career planning and internship option, with students given their own personal development website to work within.
The University of Glasgow is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world, founded in 1451. Based in Scotland’s largest city, the University of Glasgow is one of the world’s top 100 universities and currently has 26,000 students from over 120 different countries enrolled. Glasgow is also a member of the prestigious Russell Group of UK research universities.
Throughout its history Glasgow has created six Nobel laureates, one Prime Minister, Scotland's inaugural First Minister and the country's first female medical graduates. 96% of University of Glasgow research-active staff are in areas which have been independently assessed as producing research of international importance.
The University of Glasgow’s main campus is located in the cosmopolitan West End of Glasgow, just three miles from the city centre. The University has more listed buildings than any other university in the UK, and the neo-Gothic main building of the campus was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott.
The University of Huddersfield can trace its roots back to 1825 and is a founding member of the Northern Consortium and a member of the Yorkshire Universities. It is situated on a single campus just outside the city in the north of England.
The University was announced as Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education awards 2012, and University of the Year at the Times Higher Education awards 2013. It has been praised for its graduate employment scores and many courses offer a ‘sandwich’ option involving a work placement with numerous partner employers. The most popular courses are human and health sciences and due to its technical roots, the University often performs best in these and other vocational areas such as social work, teaching, engineering and music. Actor Sir Patrick Stewart of Star Trek fame is Chancellor and he has also taught drama master classes to students studying at the University.
Over 18,000 students choose to study at Huddersfield and the University have an impressive record of graduate employment, with 94% of undergraduates and 93% of postgraduates in work or further study six months after graduating.
Kent is one of the UK’s top universities. Middlesex University is one of the largest universities in the UK, with 24,000 students enrolled at its London campus. £200 million has been invested to transform the campus into a state-of-the-art centre for excellence, with facilities and equipment that rival those of the world's top universities.
Middlesex University has a strong reputation for research amongst modern universities and their innovation in education has been rewarded with three Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education. The University has also been awarded two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise as a result of their international standing.

Northumbria has a rich history going back through its constituent colleges to the late nineteenth century. It was founded as Newcastle Polytechnic in 1969 and inaugurated as a university in 1992.
Offering courses in most major subject areas such as Engineering, Computing, Sciences, Business, Law, Design, Built and Natural Environment, Arts, Social Sciences, Psychology, Sport, Health and many more. Nottingham Trent University is spread across three campuses, two in Nottingham and one just outside the city, and it is one of the largest universities in the UK with 28,000 students currently enrolled. Nottingham Trent was originally founded in 1843 before officially gaining full university status in 1992. 93% of Nottingham Trent students would recommend studying at at the University following the National Student Survey and it was named 'University of the Year' by Times Higher Education for 2018.
Nottingham Trent University is best known for its Art and Design, Fashion and creative arts programmes, but it also hosts one of the UK’s largest law schools. The University also does well in sports, with strong performances in the British University and College Sport leagues. The University recently received one of the biggest grants to a post-1992 university in order to continue its work on cancer diagnosis and therapy.
Nottingham Trent are partnered with 50 academic institutions across 40 countries, with some programmes at the University also offering the chance for students to study abroad.
The University of Portsmouth was awarded university status in 1992 and is located on the south coast of England, about 120 km south west of London. Almost 23,000 students, including 3,500 international students from over 100 countries, are currently enrolled and for the eighth consecutive year students have scored the University above the national average for student satisfaction.
Portsmouth is strong in the area modern languages and teaches six languages to degree level, offering free language lessons to all students. The University also excels in the area of health and medicine and has partnerships with numerous other institutions such as King’s College London for the teaching of certain disciplines. Portsmouth has several unique research centres such as the UK’s first Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence, the Institute of Biomedical and Biomolecular Sciences and the Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation.
Sheffield Hallam University is one of the largest and most popular universities in the UK, with over 30,000 students from more than 100 countries enrolled. It is also regarded as one of the best modern universities in the north of England and has eight subjects ranked in the top 20 in the UK (The Times and Sunday Times University League Table).
Sheffield Hallam's courses are designed in consultation with industry experts and offer opportunities to undertake internships and consultancy projects. Many courses are accredited by professional bodies including Sony, BP, Cisco, BBC, Shell and HSBC. These often offer a direct route to professional accreditation or membership of that body.
93% of graduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduation, while a package of discounts and scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students are also available.
Swansea University is based in south Wales and currently has around 20,000 students enrolled on a large single campus. Traditional strength lies in research output across the areas of Life Sciences, Health and Engineering. The University boasts one of the only supercomputers in the world dedicated to life sciences research, and the physics department benefits from strong links with the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
Established in 1920, Swansea University has international links with over 100 institutions worldwide, allowing students to study abroad and researchers to collaborate on a larger scale. The University was named University of the Year by the Whatuni? Student Choice awards in 2014 and was given five stars for its excellence by the QS University Guide.
The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is based in Preston, in the north west of the UK. In addition to main city centre campus, it has facilities in Burnley, Westlakes in Cumbria and Llangollen Outdoor Centre in North Wales. 24,000 students from 100 different countries are enrolled, making it one of the largest student bodies in the country.
UCLan became the first modern university to be named in the QS World Rankings in 2010, and has over 400 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate courses available. The University has been a leader in emerging disciplines such as Fashion and Forensic Science, as well as newer additions such as Dentistry and Aerospace Engineering.
The University has a reputation for scientific research and utilises two observatories in the UK and one in Africa in order to conduct astrophysics research with NASA, as well as being a partner in a nanotechnology research team in China. UCLan maintains a strong focus on employability, ranking in the top three in the UK for the number of graduate start-up businesses, with many degree programmes developed in collaboration with and linked to industrial partners.
Anglia Ruskin University is one of the top 350 universities in the world (Times Higher Education World University Rankings) and is an innovative institution which is also considered a ‘rising star’ – one of the institutions predicted to be challenging the global elite by 2030.

Bellerbys College is a group of three international colleges which teach GCSE, English and foundation programmes to international students from over 120 countries. Bellerbys three Colleges are in London, Cambridge and Brighton, all major university cities, and subjects offered include art and design, business, management and finance and science and pharmacy.

BPP University provides professional and academic education in business and the professions across four different schools:
BPP Law School – Over 25 of the leading law firms in the UK send their trainees to BPP Law School for their legal education. BPP Law is based in two locations across London – Waterloo and Holborn – with other centres in the UK in Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Swindon.
BPP Business School – The BPP Business School trains professionals to work for FTSE 100 companies, and their close relationship with many of the leading companies in the world ensures that programmes are relevant to todays business requirements. Students can study in London or Manchester.
BPP School of Health – Providing students with the theoretical and practical skills needed to succeed, the BPP School of Health offers degrees in psychology, nursing, chiropractic and health and social care.
Edinburgh Napier University gained full university status in June 1992 and currently has around 12,500 students enrolled. The University is largely located in Edinburgh’s east end, in buildings ranging from castles to old schools. It is one of Scotland’s top universities for graduate employability, offering work placements with many courses. Edinburgh Napier has a strong reputation for film education in partnership with the Edinburgh College of Art.
The University has around 3,000 students studying degrees in Hong Kong, Singapore and India through international partnerships, while duel-degree courses are also available with New York State University – enabling students to complete a four year degree course at both institutions.
Edinburgh Napier is ranked eighth in the UK for ‘value added’, which measures students' entry qualifications against the degree results they go on to achieve. The University also runs ‘Confident Futures’, a programme which develops employability skills.
The University of Gloucestershire is made up of three campuses, two in Cheltenham and one in Gloucester, and was awarded university status in 2001 following the merger of numerous institutions. 8,500 students are currently enrolled from over 60 different countries. The University of Gloucestershire was ranked fifth in the UK for international student support following the International Student Barometer in 2017.
Many courses feature local and international field trips and the option to spend a semester abroad on a student exchange. Gloucestershire also offers two year ‘fast-track’ courses in subjects such as Law and Business, allowing students to enter the workplace or further training faster and at a lower cost. The University has also been awarded 14 National Teaching Fellowships and have a strong portfolio of lecturers with industry experience.

Kingston University’s teaching has been recognised as outstanding by winning The Guardian University Award 2017 for teaching excellence. Courses are also brought to life by interactive learning facilities such as the Bloomberg trading room, the flight simulator, an in-built hospital ward and music recording studio.
Leeds Trinity University was founded in 1966 and was awarded full university status in 2012. It is one of only two Catholic universities in the UK, but welcomes students of all faiths and beliefs. The University is small compared to most UK institutions, with just 3,500 students currently enrolled.
The University’s traditional strengths are teacher training and theology, but recent investment has taken place to develop media studies and journalism degrees, with full studios in a number of areas available for students. A number of new courses have been launched in recent years, including two year degrees in education and sport, and tourism and leisure management. 95% of Leeds Trinity students are in work or further education six months after graduating.
Leeds Trinity students also benefit from a professional work placement with every degree. Companies include Sky Sports, Sue Ryder, Oxfam, Morrisons and Asda.
Opened by Her Majesty the Queen in 1996, the Brayford Pool Campus at Lincoln provides a student-centred environment with more than £350million invested in facilities over the past two decades.
The University of Lincoln was rated 7th in the UK for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2018 (out of 127 institutions) and in the top 20 for student experience in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019. It was rated 22nd in The Guardian University Guide 2019 and also gained a Gold Award in the national Teaching Excellence Framework 2017 - the highest standard possible.
Lincoln features some of the most striking architecture in Europe due to its medieval history, and all students will graduate in the majestic Lincoln Cathedral, providing a memorable end to academic studies.
Queen Mary, University of London is the third largest college of the University of London, with the main based in the east of the city. It is a member of the Russell Group of research universities and has roots dating back to 1785. Queen Mary has a strong international reputation, with almost 25% of its 16,000 students coming from over 150 countries.
Queen Mary has the world’s largest academic health science centre, and is well known for medical teaching and research at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. The Medical School at Queen Mary includes special departments in cardiology, infectious diseases, surgery and dentistry. The School of Dentistry recently moved into brand new state-of-the-art facilities.
Study Group International Study Centres provide specialist degree preparation for long-term career success. Undergraduate and postgraduate study is available alongside pre-master and foundation programmes for international students. 88% of successful Study Group students progress to the UK university of their choice.
The foundation and year one programmes are designed to prepare international students for undergraduate degree-level study at UK universities, while pre-masters programmes provide progression to a postgraduate degree.
Working with university partners and their own prestigious Bellerbys College, Study Group is the largest provider of international students to UK Higher Education institutions.
Study Group university partners performed extremely well in this year’s Times and Sunday Times Rankings for 2016, with the University of Surrey winning the University of the Year award and a place in the top 10, while Sussex, Lancaster and Leeds achieved top-20 positions.
The University of Sunderland was founded in 1901 as Sunderland Technical College, and was awarded university status in 1992. It has four campuses: two in Sunderland on the northeast coast of England, one in London, which is used for teaching business, tourism and nursing degrees, and a new development in Hong Kong. In 2018, the University was named as one of only five new medical schools in the UK, established to address the regional imbalance of medical education places across England and to widen access to the medical profession. The first cohort of students will join the School of Medicine in September 2019.
The University of Sunderland has close links with business and industry, as well as a close working relationship with many leading blue-chip companies. Many take work placements with such companies as part of a degree, with links being particularly strong in engineering and media.
In their feedback from the Teaching Excellence Framework, assessors highlighted the University’s embedded professional practice and the tangible contribution made by business and industrial partners to programme content.
Teesside University was awarded full university status in 1992 and is situated in Middlesbrough in the north-east of England. 20,000 full and prt-time students are currently enrolled and it was the first modern university to win a Times Higher Education Award. Since 1992, it has won nine National Teaching Fellowships for excellence in teaching quality. Teesside University was awarded The Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2013 for outstanding work in the field of enterprise and business engagement.
The University is strong in the areas of forensic science, sport and exercise, computer games design and animation. Many of these are accredited by professional bodies. Teesside University supports graduates in finding employment for at least two years after they leave, and many courses include paid work placements as part of the degree.

GSM London is located across two locations in the capital city in a friendly and intimate atmosphere.
